The Q.THEATRE project, co-financed by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, gathers together for a period of two years (2017-2019) six European universities and one theatre company with the aim of creating a network that inspires, connects and studies theatrical recreations of Don Quixote. Miguel de Cervantes’s novel has been performed with extraordinary regularity on the European stage from the seventeenth century until our times, and it has become a cultural icon in Europe.
The Q.THEATRE project will search for, locate, analyse and disseminate European theatrical works based on Don Quixote. It will also foster collaboration, consultation and technical support for amateur and professional theatre groups with the aim of carrying out theatrical productions inspired by Cervantes’s novel.
Combining study and practice, Q.THEATRE intends to focus on the continual presence of Don Quixote on stage throughout all of Europe and understand better its role in the shaping of our culture.
